# NibPad Privacy Policy

Applies to: NibPad for Windows (distributed through Microsoft Store) and the NibPad website.

NibPad is an independent product. It is not a Microsoft product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft.

### Summary
The NibPad desktop app is designed to edit documents locally on your device. It does not require a NibPad account, does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and does not sell personal data.

### Documents and local files
Documents you create, open, drag into the app, print, or export are processed on your device. NibPad accesses only files and folders you choose through Windows file pickers, drag and drop, command-line activation, or a file-type launch initiated by you. Documents are not uploaded to a NibPad-operated service. Files may be saved to locations you choose, which can be controlled by Windows, your organization, or another cloud provider you use.

### Settings and recovery data
NibPad stores preferences and, when the Pro session-restore feature is available and enabled, recovery snapshots in the app's local data folder. Recovery snapshots exist to restore unsaved work after an unexpected close or restart. You can remove this local data by uninstalling the app or clearing its local app data.

### Microsoft Store purchases
Pro licensing is provided through Microsoft Store. Microsoft processes Store account, payment, purchase, and entitlement information under Microsoft's privacy terms. NibPad receives only the entitlement information needed to determine whether Pro features are available. NibPad does not receive or store payment card details.

### Network access
The app may contact Microsoft Store services for product entitlement checks and purchase operations. The app does not send document contents to those services. Opening a hyperlink can hand the link to your default browser or another registered app, where that app's privacy terms apply.

### Website analytics

The NibPad website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic and performance. This measurement does not use cookies or localStorage and is not included in the desktop app. Cloudflare processes the website's page-view and technical performance information under Cloudflare's privacy terms. NibPad does not use it to identify individual visitors or to collect document contents.

### Diagnostics
Crash or startup diagnostics may be written locally to help troubleshoot the app. NibPad does not automatically upload these files. If you choose to share a diagnostic file with support, review it first because it may contain file paths, document names, or device information.

### Clipboard, printing, and export
Clipboard, printing, and export operations are performed through Windows and destinations you select. A printer, PDF viewer, browser, or other selected application may process content according to its own privacy practices.

### Sharing and retention
NibPad does not sell personal data and does not share document contents with advertisers or data brokers. Locally stored settings, recovery data, and diagnostic files remain until the app removes them as part of normal operation, you remove them, or the app is uninstalled.

### Children
NibPad is a general-purpose productivity editor and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

### Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when app behavior or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version. For privacy or support questions, use the support contact route shown on the Microsoft Store product page for NibPad.
